iPhone 6 Tips & Tricks

The iPhone 6 is the newest Apple smartphone to hit the market and it has quite a few neat features that iPhone lovers will surely enjoy. Here’s a look at a few helpful tips and tricks for your new iPhone and its new iOS 8 software:

#1 – Find Out What is Draining Your Battery

One of the most annoying things about the iPhone 5 and 5s was the incredibly short battery life. While the iPhone 6 does provide an upgrade in that regard, it still leaves a bit to be desired. If you’re constantly having to charge your phone, it may be due to a few individual apps that are continuously searching for your location.

With the iPhone 6, you can easily check on what apps are sucking your battery up by going to:

Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage

From there, you’ll be able to shut off location searches for individual apps or at least have a better idea of the apps that you can cut down on in order to extend your battery life.

#2 – Using the Camera Timer

The new iOS 8 software allows photo lovers a new camera timer. You can use it by going to the camera main screen and clicking on the clock at the top. You can then choose from a delay of either three or ten seconds before the camera takes the photo for you.

#3 – Send Audio Messages

One of the cooler features of the iPhone 6 is that you can now send audio messages to other iPhone owners. The new text messaging display has the audio message option on the lower left hand side of the screen. All you have to do is hold it in and record your message. This can be especially useful when you’re driving and need to shoot a quick message out.

#4 – Reply to a Text While in Seperate App

For the avid phone game fans, the iPhone 6 now allows you to quickly answer a text message without ever leaving the app that you’re in. When the message pops up you can simply drag it down, type your response, hit send and then continue on in the app that you’re currently in.

#5 – Tracking a Dead Phone’s Last Known Location

One of the worst feelings in the world is losing your phone and knowing that it is dead. Thankfully the iPhone 6 allows you to track the last known location of your phone even after it has died. While you can do this on the iCloud after your phone is missing, you can also do it before it happens by going to:

Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone > Toggle ‘Send Last Location’ On

#6 – ‘Hey Siri’

For the fervent Siri users, you can now request her help by simply saying ‘Hey Siri’. You have to turn this feature on in order for it to work properly, but you can easily do so by going to:

Setting > General > Siri > Toggle ‘Allow Hey Siri’ On

Unfortunately the only catch associated with this feature is that your phone has to be plugged in.
