What We Liked

Jason Statham never fails to disappoint at providing viewers with a sense of invulnerability. The acting was exactly where it had to be to portray the written script properly. The action scenes were fun to watch, and the scenery - for an Action/Thriller - was refreshing.

What We Disliked

When Sylvester Stallone writes movie scripts, it's shown in the acting. The script was awful, and the movie was excruciatingly predictable. The plot represents something stuck in the past, and still living in the 1980's; resembling the lifeless, uninspiring Rambo series.

Bottom Line

The actors were left with an awful script, but managed to put out a mediocre performance. The film is a mindless, action-packed thriller, which lacks all forms of inspiration and diversity. There is no way to differentiate this film from the entire Rambo series. The entire film was a predictable series of vents that lead to Jason Statham walking away from an explosion entirely untouched. In fact the only thing unpredictable about this film was that Jason Statham had hair.

Full Review

. . . the only thing unpredictable about this film was that Jason Statham had hair.

Homefront is an Action Thriller directed by Gary Fleder, and written by Sylvester Stallone. The cast for this film was promising, starring: Jason Statham, James Franco, Izabela Vidovic, and Kate Bosworth.

The beginning of Homefront provides a quick background story, filled with action. The background story goes into detail about a DEA agent named Phil Broker (Jason Statham) going undercover to help the DEA bust a motorcycle gang involved in the creation and distribution of nefarious narcotics. While undercover, the DEA busted the gang, but allowed the gang-leader, ‘Danny T’ Turrie, and his son, Jojo Turrie, to escape via motorized vehicle. This lead to a massive car chase that primarily featured undercover DEA agent on a motorcycle in pursuit of Danny Turrie and Jojo Turrie. The car chase resulted in the death of Danny Turrie’s son, Jojo Turrie.

With this tragedy, Phil Broker decides to finalize his career as a DEA agent, and move him and his daughter to a rural community in what seems to be Louisiana. However, this quick move will not be the end of agent Broker’s troubles. While in school, Broker’s daughter Maddy ran into an altercation with the school boys. This ended with Maddy breaking one of the bullies’ nose. The breaking of this nose sparked something similar to a family feud, but involved more serious events. The Bodine family, as seen in the film, had serious drug connections.

The series of events lead to agent Broker’s past catching up to him, leaving him to solely defend his daughter. The role, played by Jason Statham, is perhaps his most dynamic role. Jason Statham always seems to be an emotionless tank, but in this film, we see a more tender side of Jason Statham.
